Huggies Plus Varieties

Huggies Plus diapers: What’s the difference between regular Huggies and Huggies Plus?

What are Huggies Plus diapers?

As if the diaper world wasn’t confusing enough, Huggies have launched two new diaper varieties: Little Movers Plus and Little Snugglers Plus. They certainly sound great – anything with a plus is… well, a plus. But is there anything different about Huggies Plus diapers, compared with their standard diapers?

Let’s take a closer look at Huggies Little Movers Plus and Little Snugglers Plus. Has Huggies made any attempt to go greener and healthier with their new ranges?

Dryness protection

Huggies Little Movers and Huggies Little Movers Plus offer up to 12 hours of leak protection. So they should be suitable for your little one overnight. Both sets of reviews talk about how effective they are at keeping babies dry, so it looks like they do the job, and they do it well!

Absorbency

Superior absorbency is the main selling point of Huggies Plus diapers. Plus diapers offer better absorbency than Huggies Little Movers and Huggies Little Snugglers, in theory.

Sizes

Both Huggies Little Movers and Little Movers Plus are available in sizes 3-7, so they’re suitable for little ones who are starting to explore the world.

Wetness indicator

Both Huggies Little Movers and Little Movers Plus have a wetness indicator, on all sizes.

Reviews

There’s nothing between Huggies Little Movers and Little Movers Plus when it comes to reviews. Little Movers average 4.8 out of 5 in over 16,000 reviews. Users love them for their absorbency and great fit.

Little Movers Plus score the same over on Costco’s site – 4.8 out of 5 on average in over 14000 reviews. Parents and carers say they have a secure fit and are pretty good at preventing leaks and blowouts.

Price

The price of Little Movers will vary depending on where you’re shopping. Heading over to Amazon, a 140 pack of size 4 Little Movers diapers will set you back just over 50 bucks, or about 36 cents each.

At Costco, a 174 pack of size 4 diapers will set you back just over 52 bucks. That’s 30 cents each. Little Movers Plus are currently exclusive to Costco, both in-store and online, so you’d have to be a member to buy them.

Ultimately, the prices of Little Movers and Little Movers Plus aren’t that different. But if you’re opting for Little Movers Plus, you have to factor in the cost of a Costco membership. It’ll set you back 60 or 120 bucks a year to be a member, depending on the package you have, and that’s a pretty hefty sum. Unless you’re already a member, of course…

Widely available?

Huggies Little Movers are available pretty much everywhere. You’ll find them on Amazon and in all major grocery stores. Little Movers Plus diapers, on the other hand, are exclusive to Costco. You’ll find them in stores and online.

Do Huggies Little Movers Plus contain phthalates?

Huggies doesn’t state that their Little Movers and Little Movers Plus diapers don’t use phthalates. That suggests to me that they’re used.

It’s such a shame that Huggies didn’t take this opportunity to improve their eco and health credentials. The vast majority of their diapers use mainly petroleum-based plastics and most likely contain harmful toxins like phthalates.

With so many diaper brands offering brilliant plant-based, biodegradable and toxin-free alternatives, it’s clear that Huggies missed a trick with their Plus variety.

Do Huggies Little Movers Plus contain lotions?

Little Movers and Little Movers Plus diapers are free of lotions. That’s great, but they probably still contain phthalates.

Do Huggies Little Movers Plus contain fragrances?

Again, both Huggies Little Movers and Little Movers Plus are free of fragrances. Fragrances can irritate skin, especially the sensitive skin of little ones. It’s great that these Huggies diapers avoid fragrances, but the fact that they probably contain phthalates is still concerning.

What diapers are similar to Huggies Little Movers Plus?

There are loads of amazing diapers for crawling babies – diapers that are effective, a great fit, and good for the planet and your little one.

Ecoriginals regularly top my ‘best diaper’ lists. They’re made with 90% biodegradable materials and are completely free of harmful toxins, including phthalates, fragrances and lotions. Not only that, but they’re perfect for little ones on the move. With their premium leakguards and flexible shape, they’re sure to keep your baby protected on their adventures!

Another one of my favorite alternatives to Little Movers is Kudos. These diapers were developed by MIT engineers. Yep, you read that right! They’re made with some plant-based materials and are super soft on your little one’s delicate skin.

They’re free of toxic chemicals, feature two absorbent layers and are loved by parents and carers.

Dryness protection

Huggies say that their Little Snugglers diapers will keep your little one dry for up to 12 hours. Their Little Snugglers Plus diapers offer the same level of protection, so you should be able to use both varieties overnight.

Absorbency

Like Huggies Movers Plus, Snugglers Plus diapers are more absorbent than the regular variety. But both sets of reviews are complementary of each variety’s absorbency!

Sizes

The biggest difference between Huggies Little Snugglers and Little Snugglers Plus is the sizing. Little Snugglers are available in sizes P-6. Little Snugglers Plus, on the other hand, are only available in sizes N-2

So if you’re looking for diapers in bigger sizes, Little Snugglers Plus are no good!

Wetness indicator

Both Huggies Little Snugglers and Little Snugglers Plus diapers feature wetness indicators.

Reviews

Huggies Little Snugglers Plus diapers average 4.7 out of 5 in over 1000 reviews on the Huggies site. Reviewers say their absorbency is good and they do a great job of preventing blowouts and leaks.

Huggies Little Snugglers average a whopping 4.9 out of 5 on Amazon, where parents and carers say they love the fit, absorbency and leak protection of the diapers.

It’s safe to say that both varieties are highly rated!

Price

The price of Little Snugglers varies, especially since they’re so widely available. On Amazon, you can get 198 size 1 Little Snugglers diapers for just under 49 dollars. That’s about 25 cents each.

A pack of Little Snugglers Plus on Costco’s site will set you back about 24 cents each, so they’re basically the same.

Again, you have to factor in the cost of Costco membership if you’re looking to buy Huggies Little Snugglers Plus diapers: 60 or 120 bucks, depending on the membership package you choose.

Widely available?

Like Little Movers, you’ll find Huggies Little Snugglers in all major grocery stores, and probably tiny ones too! Little Snuggler Plus diapers are exclusive to Costco, though.

Do Huggies Little Snugglers Plus Contain phthalates?

Huggies doesn’t state anywhere that phthalates aren’t used in Little Snugglers and Little Snugglers Plus diapers. If a company doesn’t state explicitly that it avoids phthalates, I have to assume they’re used.

Do Huggies Little Snugglers Plus Contain lotions?

Huggies doesn’t use lotions in its Little Snugglers or Little Snugglers Plus diapers.

Do Huggies Little Snugglers Plus Contain fragrances?

Both varieties are free of fragrances. It’s brilliant that they avoid fragrances and lotions, but the question of phthalates is concerning.

Which diapers are similar to Huggies Little Snugglers Plus?

Little Snugglers Plus are all about softness and absorbency, which is why they’re so popular with families of newborns. But there are lots of dreamy-soft diapers on the market that are doing way better in the eco stakes than Huggies.

Andy Pandy is one of my all-time favorite diaper brands. They offer bamboo diapers made from around 87% biodegradable materials. They’re super soft on little ones’ skin, and are free of nasties like phthalates, fragrances and lotions.

Another one of my favorite alternatives to Little Snugglers is Eco Pea. Their silky-soft diapers are made with 85% biodegradable materials. As you’d expect, they’re free from the chemicals we should avoid if possible – phthalates, fragrances and lotions – and they’re even delivered in biodegradable packaging.

Where can you buy Huggies Plus?

Huggies Little Movers and Little Snugglers are very widely available. You’ll find them in most grocery stores, and online at retailers like Amazon

Huggies Plus diapers, on the other hand, might be a little harder to get hold of. Both Little Movers Plus and Little Snugglers Plus are available exclusively at Costco, both in-store and online. That may change in the future, but if you’re not a Costco member, you’ll struggle to get hold of them.

Huggies Plus Reviews

Little Snugglers Plus Reviews

Huggies Little Snugglers Plus reviews are very positive. In fact, they average 4.7 out of 5 in over 2000 reviews on Costco’s site. Many reviewers say that they’re even more absorbent than Huggies Little Snugglers, and softer too. Some reviews say they’re not as absorbent as they claim, but most parents are happy with the diapers.

Little Movers Plus Reviews

Little Movers Plus have similarly positive reviews, averaging 4.8 out of 5 in over 14000 reviews on Costco’s site. Parents and carers say the diapers certainly do what they say on the tin – protect babies on the move!

Are Huggies Plus diapers worth trying?

The world of diapers is a minefield. And if we didn’t have enough brands and varieties to choose from already, in swoops Huggies with their new varieties: Little Movers Plus and Little Snugglers Plus.

But why? What’s the difference between regular Huggies and Huggies Plus? Have they used greener materials, or reduced toxins?

Unfortunately, no.

It’s clear that the only real difference between the two is absorbency – Huggies claim that their Plus varieties are more absorbent than their regular varieties. And that’s it, really.

At the moment, you can only buy Plus diapers at Costco, in-store and online, which makes getting your hands on them more expensive – you have to sign up for a Costco membership if you don’t already have one.

It’s a huge shame that Huggies have put their efforts into creating a new variety that’s pretty identical to Snugglers and Little Movers. We already know that Huggies produce effective diapers. What parents and carers really need now is a diaper that’s effective, but making an effort to reduce its impact on the environment and our little ones’ health.

Must do better, Huggies.
