We need to move away from plastic disposables to plant-based and biodegradable alternatives if we want to protect the planet for the future of our little ones, and Attitude is helping us do just that.
These cruelty-free, eco-conscious diapers are great for the planet, but do they work? And are they worth trying?

What are Attitude diapers made of?
There are big brownie points available for diaper brands that make their ingredients lists clear. It’s super easy to find Attitude’s materials, so they certainly get some.
The company lets us know that their biodegradable diapers are made from FSC-certified totally chlorine-free fluff pulp, biodegradable corn-starch-based biopolymer, superabsorbent polymer (SAP), latex-free elastics, and nonwoven fabric.
It looks like they use some plant-based plastics, but the SAP is regular plastic. All SAP in diapers is plastic-based, even the most eco-friendly ones, and there isn’t currently a plant-based alternative.
The big positive about Attitude’s diaper ingredients is that they’re Environmental Working Group verified. So what does that mean?
The Environmental Working Group is a nonprofit environmental group formed because they believe we should all be better informed on public health matters. This enables us to make ‘smart, healthy’ choices. The EWG carries out research into safe and unsafe ingredients and highlights harmful industry practies.
Although Attitude diapers as a whole aren’t yet EWG certified, like Healthynest diapers are, their ingredients certainly pass the test.
What are Attitude Diapers free from?
If diaper companies avoid some of the toxins they should be, they’ll make it super clear. Unnecessary extras like fragrances are completely avoidable and the best diapers shun them completely. So what do Attitude diapers avoid, and why is it so important?
- Chlorine
Chlorine is used in lots of baby diapers to make them more absorbent, but chlorine is super toxic and the process is terrible for the environment. There are more eco-friendly ways of treating diapers, which Attitude practices – it uses oxygen. Like the best diapers, Attitude diapers are totally chlorine-free. You’ll often see TCF on the packaging of a diaper if it avoids chlorine altogether, or ECF (elemental chlorine-free). This is better than nothing, but totally chlorine-free is preferable.
- Fragrances, lotions, and dyes
Fragrances, lotions, and dyes or inks all have the potential to irritate your baby’s skin because they often use horrible toxins and chemicals. Look for diapers that are clearly fragrance, lotion, and ink-free. This is super important if you have a little one with sensitive skin.
Attitude diapers avoid all three of these completely.
- Phthalates
You might not have heard about phthalates before, and that certainly wouldn’t be a surprise. It’s not like diaper companies make it clear if they use them. These chemicals find their way into all sorts of products we regularly use in our daily lives, like toys, vinyl flooring and, yep, diapers. So what’s the issue?
Studies have found that exposure to phthalates as a child can actually increase the risk of developing asthma and eczema. These horrible toxins have also been linked to ‘alterations in infant/toddler physical development’. Exposure to harmful toxins like phthalates can have irreversible damage, so it’s really important to avoid them as much as you can.
The safest bet is to make sure a diaper company clearly labels their products phthalate-free. If you’re not sure and want to find out, just message them. The more we speak up about them, the more companies will listen!

Are Attitude diapers biodegradable?
Attitude diapers are made with 50% biodegradable raw materials.
Biodegradable is definitely the buzzword of the moment. Biodegradable diapers are much better for the planet than regular disposables. That’s because at least some of the diaper can be broken easily back down into the soil because it’s made from plant-based materials. Biodegradable parts of the diaper might take a few months or years to break down. Compared to the 500+ years it takes for plastic diapers to break down if they ever do, the difference is obvious.
While all biodegradable diapers are made of plant-based ingredients, not all plant-based diapers are biodegradable. Attitude’s diapers are 50% biodegradable, which means half of the diaper will break down relatively easily. While only 50% of the diaper is biodegradable, this is actually a good percentage compared to similar brands.
There are currently no fully biodegradable diapers. But the more we choose these eco-friendlier products as parents and carers, the faster we’ll find a fully biodegradable alternative.

How well do Attitude diapers work?
Attitude diapers feature an ‘optimized SAP/wood pulp ratio’ in the absorbent layer. This essentially means that they’re absorbent! They’re shaped to minimize the risk of leaks and adapt to your baby’s shape.
Because they’re free of nasty chemicals like phthalates, fragrances, and lotions, they’re hypoallergenic, so they’re suitable for little ones with sensitive skin. This is great news for all babies because it means less chance of developing diaper rash.

You can buy Attitude diapers on the Attitude site, and on Amazon too. They’re not available in grocery stores at the minute, but more and more eco brands are popping up in the likes of Walmart and Target, so they might be in the future.

What do reviews say?
Because Attitude is a lesser-known diaper brand, there aren’t as many reviews available for them as there are for the bigger brands. But the few reviews that are available are pretty great!
They average 4.4 out of 5 on Amazon, with users saying they love how soft they are on baby’s skin, and how absorbent they are. Some parents say they come up a little big though.
How much do Attitude diapers cost?
When it comes down to it, we’d probably all choose biodegradable diapers if they were affordable. While some are admittedly a little more expensive than the average diaper, many eco brands are now comparable with the mainstream companies like Pampers and Huggies when it comes to price.
Attitude diapers will set you back about 61 cents each for a pack of size 4 diapers (at about 16 bucks). Their size 1-2 diapers are cheaper – you’ll pay about 44 cents each for a pack of 36 diapers.
Compared with similar brands, this is slightly more expensive. Dyper and Andy Pandy tend to be a little cheaper, but if your budget can stretch to it, Attitude diapers are definitely worth trying. The more we choose these kind-to-the-planet diapers, the more the cost will drop!
Attitude diapers alternatives
Attitude diapers are a great addition to the eco-friendly diaper world. And, luckily for us and for the planet, there are loads of other eco-conscious brands waiting to hug our babies’ bums and protect the planet for their future.
One of the main things to look for when choosing healthy baby diapers is toxins or lack of! If they contain some biodegradable material too, that’s even better.

Dyper, Eco Pea, and Andy Pandy are some of my favorite non-toxic, biodegradable diaper brands. You won’t find a phthalate anywhere near these diapers and Dyper even purchases carbon offsets with every delivery.
Another one of my fave diaper companies is Hello Bello. They’re not biodegradable like the diapers I mentioned above, but they’re of great value and completely non-toxic. So if you’re looking for healthy diapers for your baby and the cost of Attitude diapers is a little too much, you should definitely give Hello Bello a go. They’re about 30 cents per diaper and even come in boxes that can be transformed into playthings for your little one!

The more we choose plant-based, non-toxic diapers like those Attitude offers us, the more we do our little (but super important) bit to safeguard the planet for the future. The whole industry needs to shift towards this kind of eco-conscious diapers and companies like Attitude are leading the way.
Now if we could just get the mainstream brands to switch all of their varieties to plant-based, non-toxic, and biodegradable diapers, that would be great.
