Little Movers and Little Snugglers are similar in many ways. They’re both free of elemental chlorine, fragrances and lotions, both diapers are a similar price and are made mainly with petroleum-based plastics.
But it’s clear that the two diaper varieties are made for very different purposes.

Let’s examine the differences between Huggies Little Movers and Little Snugglers. Which is more absorbent, which is softer, and, most importantly, is either diaper free of chemicals?
Little Movers vs Snugglers: Absorbency
Huggies diapers are popular all around the world for a reason: they work. But is a particular variety more absorbent than the other?
While Little Snugglers are certainly effective – their glowing reviews are testament to this – they’re arguably less absorbent than Little Movers. In fact, Huggies tells us that their Little Movers diapers will keep your wriggly baby dry for up to 12 hours, so they’re good for overnights.
Huggies doesn’t say this about their Little Snugglers variety, and they don’t promise up to 12 hours of protection. That’s not a huge surprise, given that the unique (sort of) selling point of Little Snugglers is their softness rather than their absorbency.
Little Movers vs Snugglers: Fit
Huggies Little Movers are designed for active little ones, so the fit has to be both secure and flexible. Little Movers diapers feature a contoured shape. This helps to prevent gaps at the legs and at the waist and Huggies promises that this variety is their ‘best fitting’ diaper.
Reviews say that they’re pretty good at preventing leaks, so the fit lives up to the promise. There are some conflicting reports of Huggies running bigger or smaller than Pampers. Ultimately, every baby is unique. Using the size guide is the best way to figure out which size is right for your little one.

Little Snugglers diapers are very popular with parents of newborn babies, and that’s largely due to their softness. Looking at reviews of both varieties, it’s clear that Little Snugglers are softer to the touch than Little Movers.
Huggies Little Movers vs Snugglers: Umbilical Cord Notch
Huggies Little Snugglers feature an umbilical cord notch on their preemie and newborn sizes. Umbilical cord notches aren’t crucial, but they’re handy for parents.
Because Little Movers are available from sizes 3-7, they don’t feature an umbilical cord notch. That’s not a surprise, given that they’re made for babies on the go!
Huggies Little Movers vs Snugglers: Wetness indicator
Wetness indicators aren’t crucial, but they’re certainly useful. Little Movers diapers feature a wetness indicator on all of their sizes – 3-7 – so you don’t need to chase your little one around the house to check whether they need changing. Handy, to say the least.
Little Snugglers diapers also feature a wetness indicator on all sizes, taking the guesswork out of changing!
Huggies Little Movers vs Snugglers: Which should I use?
Snugglers diapers are super popular with parents of younger babies, largely due to their softness. They’re a hit with parents and carers of newborns especially. They’re perhaps not great for overnights, as they’re not quite as absorbent as other varieties.

As your little one grows and starts to wriggle, it might be worth trying a diaper made or babies on the move. The fit and security of Little Movers is arguably better than Little Snugglers, which is great for babies who are shuffling, crawling and, eventually, running around the house causing absolute chaos.

Huggies Little Movers vs Snugglers: are they suitable for sensitive skin?
You’ll often find added chemicals like fragrances and lotions in baby diapers. These toxins are pretty terrible for our little ones’ delicate skin and have a tendency to cause skin rashes. Both Huggies Little Snugglers and Little Movers are free of lotions and fragrances. Weirdly, though, Huggies tells us that Little Snugglers are hypoallergenic, but they don’t say the same about Little Movers.
The term ‘hypoallergenic’ should reassure us that they’re safe for babies’ sensitive skin, but the use of the term isn’t regulated by the FDA. It’s a good idea, then, to take these claims with a pinch of salt.
It’s also tricky to work out why only Little Snugglers diapers are hypoallergenic, and Little Movers aren’t. The lack of information about phthalates is similarly concerning. Phthalates can irritate the skin and have also been linked to increased rates of asthma and eczema. (Source). The fact that Huggies doesn’t say that they’re avoided in their diapers leads me to believe they’re used.
All in all, we can’t be sure that either diaper is truly suitable for sensitive skin. But many diaper brands offer truly hypoallergenic diapers, like Healthynest, Ecoriginals and Dyper. Read more about my top non-toxic picks here.

Huggies Little Movers vs Snugglers: their materials and ingredients
Both Huggies Little Movers and Huggies Little Snugglers are made mainly with petroleum-based plastics. Unlike some companies, who are making strides in the use of more environmentally-friendly materials, Huggies isn’t making eco-conscious changes. Only one of their varieties includes a significant percentage of plant-based materials – Special Delivery.

Unfortunately, neither Little Snugglers nor Little Movers use plant-based ingredients in any meaningful way.
Huggies Little Movers vs Snugglers: are they free of harsh chemicals?
It’s not enough for diaper brands to make leak-proof diapers. We’re demanding more for our little ones, and diaper brands need to take note.
A smorgasbord of chemicals lurks in many of the most popular diaper varieties on the market, so it’s important to investigate thoroughly before you choose the right diaper for your little one.
The toxins you often find in disposable baby diapers aren’t just terrible for the environment; they’re terrible for your baby’s skin and overall health, too.
Huggies Little Movers and Little Snugglers both avoid fragrances, lotions and rubber latex, which is great for our babies’ skin. Young children’s skin is particularly sensitive and the fragrances and lotions used in many diapers can easily irritate it, causing rashes.
But another super important chemical to avoid is phthalates. And there’s no word on these. These chemicals are often found in everyday items, like children’s toys, flooring and, unfortunately, baby diapers and can irritate the skin just like fragrances and lotions. But even more shocking that that is that phthalates have been linked to increased rates of asthma and eczema in babies and young children.
Because avoiding phthalates is such a huge selling point, unless a brand states very clearly that they’re not used, it’s much safer to assume they are.
But don’t worry… global brands like Huggies and Pampers might not provide phthalate-free diapers, but plenty of other brands do.

Huggies Little Movers are available in sizes 3-7. It’s no surprise that they start at size 3, considering they’re designed for older babies and on-the-go toddlers.
Huggies Little Movers vs Snugglers: Pricing
The price of both Huggies Little Movers and Little Snugglers will vary, depending on where you buy them. As you’d expect, both varieties are available in all the big retailers, like Walmart, Target and Amazon.
Looking specifically at Amazon, a size 4 pack of Little Movers diapers will set you back 38 cents each. Expect to pay about 52 cents per diaper for a size 5 pack, and 67 cents each for size 7.
Looking at Little Snugglers on Amazon, a size 1 pack of diapers works out at around 27 cents each. You’ll pay about 38 cents per diaper for size 4, and 43 cents each for size 5.
It’s clear that there’s not much between the diapers when it comes to price. It’s worth checking the price on different sites and in different stores to get the best deal.

Reviews for both Little Movers and Little Snugglers are glowing, to say the least. They both average 4.8 out of 5 over on Amazon, in thousands of reviews. Parents and carers love the softness of Little Snugglers, plus the fact that they’ve got an umbilical cord notch.
Reviewers say Little Movers live up to their name, keeping their wriggly babies dry and protected. Some buyers say they’re a little expensive compared to some other brands, but they certainly do the job.
Alternatives to Huggies Little Movers and Snugglers
Twenty years ago, parents were faced with few choices when it came to diapers. But now, there are more diaper brands than ever before, offering parents and carers affordable and healthy diapers.
Huggies and Pampers aren’t keeping up with the times, with their lack of effort when it comes to plant-based materials, and their use of phthalates. So what are the best alternatives?
Alternatives to Little Movers
There are some great alternatives to Huggies Little Movers and one of my favorites is Ecoriginals. These eco-conscious diapers are made with a whopping 90% plant-based and biodegradable materials. They’re great for little wrigglers because they offer 40% more absorbency than some popular disposable diapers. Plus, they avoid toxins and chemicals, including phthalates.

Another one of my favorite alternatives to Little Movers is Healthynest. This non-toxic diaper brand offers the first baby diaper verified by the Environmental Working Group (EWG). The EWG is a not-for-profit environmental group. They put a spotlight on harmful industry practices, and guide consumers when it comes to healthy and unhealthy products. Suffice to say, their endorsement is pretty great!
They’re great for wriggly bums, not only because they’re free of chemicals, but because they perform in line or better than some of the biggest brands on the market right now.

Alternatives to Little Snugglers
Little Snugglers sell (a lot) because they are soft and have effective features: two elements of diapers that many other brands on the market have cracked. Plus, many of these use some plant-based materials and are toxin-free.
Dyper diapers are one of my favorite alternatives to Huggies Little Snugglers. These super soft, vegan and biodegradable diapers steer clear of chemicals like fragrances, lotions and phthalates and you can even get them delivered straight to your door. Plus, they arrive in compostable packaging.

Hello Bello diapers are another great alternative to Little Snugglers. These soft, comfortable and effective diapers were created by Frozen’s Kristen Bell. Again, they’re free of harsh toxins and use some plant-based materials, which certainly helps with the softness. They’re not biodegradable like Dyper diapers and Ecoriginals diapers, but they’re great value. You can save money by subscribing, and get them delivered to your door. No more picking up heavy diaper packs at the grocery store!
It’s clear that there are so many amazing alternatives to Huggies Little Snugglers and Little Movers. Let’s hope that this global baby brand, with so much power to do good, takes note!
Conclusion: the main difference between Huggies Little Movers and Snugglers
While many Huggies varieties share many similarities, Little Movers and Snugglers have big differences. While Little Movers diapers offer a secure fit and will keep your little wriggler (and your floors and furniture) protected, Snugglers focus on their softness. So it’s no wonder they’re a hit with parents of newborns.
While Little Movers diapers might be great for older babies and toddlers in terms of keeping the pee and poop at bay, they still contain chemicals. And it’s the same with Little Snugglers…
Yes, they’re soft. But the possibility that they contain phthalates is too risky, so I can’t recommend them.
The diaper world is big, and getting bigger every day. Companies have taken note that parents want eco, healthy diapers, and they’re starting to deliver. Healthynest, Ecoriginals and Dyper are just a handful of my favorites.
But despite their millions – and billions – Huggies don’t seem to be putting much effort into giving the parents what they want. Until they do, I advise that you look elsewhere.
